Car history: |
1969 Corvette convertible project car. This is true barn find. This is a complete car and would run, drive, and stop, two years ago when the previous owner finally moved it for the last time. It currently starts and runs, brake pedal goes to the floor. This is a numbers matching, 4 speed convertible with a very nice NO HIT body. The only fiberglass repair evident is on the hood, around the area where the hood brace attaches to the hood. The frame is gone and will need to be replaced. If that doesn't scare you, read on: The original condition of the car as it was built is as follows: 980 Riverside Gold, 402 Black Leather & black top. Original HY 350ci 300hp motor (appears to have been rebuilt at some point). M20 4 Speed Transmission. I am guessing it is original. A82 Headrests, U69 AM/FM Radio. Exterior: The body, as I said above, is virgin no hit body retaining all original bonding strips. The doors are fairly solid along the bottom with a little separation along the bottom of the drivers door. There is rust around the latch mechanism on the drivers door. At one point some genius mounted an aftermarket luggage rack on the rear deck, holes visible. The nose is very nice with original brace above the headlights in place. Rear bumpers are nice, not rusted, front bumper has a ding, grilles and parking lights a very nice. The car appears to gap well however because of the condition of the frame the car sags slightly. The car has been primed but is not ready for paint. I do not know how long it has been in primer. Interior: The interior, with exception of the dash and console, is out of the car. The dash and console are complete and in good shape with no cracks. 4 door panels come with the car, one is junk, the others are serviceable. Seats are complete with good frames, need to be recovered. No carpet. Rear hatch doors are serviceable. All hardware is on the tonneau. Top, A Pillars, and windshield: The top frame and latches are in good shape, fabric and window is junk. The header panel and the A pillars are in surprisingly good shape. There is a small hole on the passenger side down low, other than that the entire structure of the birdcage is appears solid. The windshield appears to be original is not cracked or scratched. Frame: As I said above, the frame is junk, there is no saving it. That being said, the upper A arms are good, the lower A arms and the rear suspension has scale but appears to be solid enough to be blasted and rebuilt. Underhood: The engine is the original, matching numbers, 300hp motor. The engine bay is fairly complete with the following parts missing: Ignition shielding, wiper door vacuum canister, Wiper motor is partially disassembled, Valve covers, Air Cleaner, The carb is a remanufactured Rochester Quadra-jet. The radiator is probably junk but could be rebuilt, the core support has some rust along the lower leading edge, could possibly be repaired. All headlight hardware are present. 48,000 miles. November 22, 2009. |
